GBC of Srila Prabhupada’s Hare Krishna Movement


Srila Prabhupada desired that his Hare Krishna Movement be run as per the Direction of Management(DOM) which he instituted on 28th 1970. The devotees of the Hare Krishna Movement strictly adhere to this particular directive of Srila Prabhupada and have formed the Governing Body Commission(GBC) to govern their activities. GBC accepts as its life and soul Prabhupada’s divine instructions and recognizes that it is completely dependent on his mercy in all respects. The GBC has no other function or purpose other than to execute the instructions so kindly given by His Divine Grace and preserve and spread His Teachings to the world in their pure form.

A fundamental, foundational and inviolable principle of the Hare Krishna Movement shall be to accept His Divine Grace A C Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada as the sole initiating spiritual master (Acharya or diksha guru) of all devotees of the Hare Krishna Movement for all times as per the direction given in the document dated July 9th 1977, and approved by His Divine Grace A C Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada.

The governing body commission is elected for a term of three year and every three years there is a reconstitution thru due process of election as outlined in DOM.

The list of current members of the GBC who have been elected for the term till end of 2023 are as follows:

They were elected for a three term in 2020 as outlined in DOM. All the above members are serving in the Hare Krishna Movement for more than one or two decades in a senior capacity. All the members are bound to follow strictly the four regulative principles (no meat eating including onion and garlic, no intoxication including coffee and tea, no illicit sex and no gambling) and chanting of sixteen rounds of Hare Krishna Mantra everyday, as given by His Divine Grace A C Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, as the foundational and inviolable principles of practice for the members of the Hare Krishna Movement.
